Bury Bob's website was only the second one I had ever put together....Bob came up with a very bright design with 12 buttons to take you to obscurely named pages. Although it looked great,
No one stayed for more than 30 seconds. I think the bright orange header may have been responsible for that
Well a lot has happened to the site and indeed to Bob in the last three years.
3 months ago he had major heart surgery and we all held our breath. We needn't have worried within a month of getting out of hospital Bob was back in London picking up where he had had to leave off the previous winter, due to his health.
With the help of some of the big boys he managed to get seen at a few places and will be turning up with various people around the Edinburgh Festival.
His stand up act has developed really well and already some of the old timers are shaking their heads at how he manages to progress so quickly.
What they don't know is that Bob has been studying comedy for most of his adult life. He was never satisfied just being a fan...He had to know what made a comedian funny. He studied the greats from Morecambe and Wise to George Carlin, taking in what made them different yet still funny.
The videos on the site were shot without a script or any idea where he was going to end up and it shows at times. I am in the process of editing some samples for the front page carascelle so you can get a 3 minute taste of each one. Currently Kenny and Terry Bull are samples, the rest will soon follow.
This site was originally very text driven as Bob loves to write, but I have stripped all the text away and made it almost text less, apart from the instructions.
This site has been neglected for a year but it has still been getting 1500 visits a month. I am hoping to double that now that I am taking an interest in it again.
It was interesting to look at the figures last weekend, when he was doing gigs....on Sunday the numbers were double what they had been for a while and continued to stay up for days after as people shared the link.
Well, I await your opinion on how you found the site both aesthetically and practically.
If you could leave your comments here I would be most grateful.
Ian
